BPM + Sourcing / Outsourcing + Contract Management + Stakeholder Management
I had the pleasure of nearly working with John but as such, did see his work at close hand. The thing that strikes you about him is that he is not just an 'ideas man'; we all have moments of inspiration from time to time (don't we??) but John clearly has the ability to see things through to fruition i.e. taking a good idea and making it happen. I am convinced that John will finish up being hugely successful and my only regret is that it is unlikely to be me or my company that will benefit!”
- Mr. Nigel Waters, International Business Director Australasia , TLC Worldwide Marketing.

Project Management: Sourcing / Outsourcing + Logistics + Contract Management + Stakeholder Management
I had the pleasure of working with John when he was working at Barmy Army England as a client of Virgin Blue Airlines. John, in his role, was responsible for the arrangement and movement of over 1500 guests around Australia as supporters of the Ashes Cricket tour. I found John to be highly organized, very professional, detailed and very personable. John handled the myriad of issues, including international communications and finance related issues, very well. From an customer perspective, the tour was conducted without any operational issues due to the detailed logistical preparedness of John. Also, the tour was conducted with general good cheer.”

"With culturally different management styles across our three offices - London, Mumbai and Colombo, we need a simplified yet robust business and operating style that made the staff accountable and working towards a common goal. Although it took longer than we expected, John delivered to us what we wanted. We could not be much happier with the outcome. I recommend John to any organization wanting a hands-on experienced business operations manager".

Business Development + Due-diligence + Stakeholder Management
"Jonh's brief was to assist our entry into the Australian market, firstly by conducting a through evaluation of the media and legal regulations relating to premium rate 'phone services' and then secondly, to assist in the securing of a joint venture partner. Initially, with only limited knowledge of the audiotex industry, John was quick to understand the business objective of Legion and work within the brief for the successful outcome. I can highly recommend John to any organization wanting to establish a presence in Australia". - [JV Partner: Seven TV Network]
- Mr. Adam Maxted, Director, Global Business Development, Legion International S.A.

Project Management: Sourcing / Outsourcing + Logistics + Contract Management + Stakeholder Management
I worked with John in the final stages of a large and complex project involving the air travel component for the recent Barmy Army travel around Australia. Such a complex project inevitably comes with various challenges - I found John acted in an open and honest manner throughout and exhibited the highest levels of integrity at all times. Thanks to John’s efforts, from my perspective the tour was a success.”

A Holistic Approach to Sustainable Growth and Footprint Expansion in a Global Economy

Introduction: HERM Logic is a boutique consulting firm and a subject matter expert (SME) in Dynamic Supply Chain Alignment (DSCA) and Enterprise Risk Manageme. - http://www.hermlogic.com/

Overview: To compete successfully in the global economy, enterprises across all industries are hard at work trying to manage inventory (supply chain flexibility and risk) and manage debt (effective cash management) in order to meet the growing expectations of customers / stakeholders.

To do this, most enterprises look at three (3) key areas of flow within Supply Chain Management;
• Product flow;
• Information flow; and
• Finance flow,
with the prime focuse on information technology to provide the tools and resources to identify the 5W's (Who, What, When, Where, Why) and the How - when it comes to identifying and addressing supply and demand.

While technology is an important component, it does not fully ensure against sustainable growth, risk mitigation and footprint expansion in a dynamic competitive shrinking world.

So the Question is - is there a simplified methodology which gets to the fundamental building blocks of an enterprise to enable it to look and identify the very characteristic of the enterprise's personality, its position in the market place, its competitors, its strengths and weakness ..... in short, the DNA of an enterprise.

What is Enterprise DNA?
Enterprise DNA is very much like people. After all, it is people that make up both sides of an enterprise. While the seller is traditionally a business, the buyer could be another business (B2B) and/or the general public (B2C).

As there is no two persons exactly the same, there are also no two businesses exactly the same.

However, there are groups. And it is within these groups that we are able to find parties of mutual interest ... wanting mutual outcomes ... that leads to repeat business > sustainable growth > footprint expansion.

What is Dynamic Supply Chain Alignment (DSCA)?
In Dynamic Supply Chain Alignment, the enterprise takes a holistic approached to aligning the strategies and the process to add value, minimise cost and to mitigate risk throughout the supply chain. The mindset also extends to incorporating the end-customers as part of the flow to identify risk, to create value, to enhance the relationship and to insure sustainable growth and footprint expansion.

What is Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)?
While Risk Management (RM) has the connotation of something negative, by definition Risk is simply a method to calculate the Frequency of a Consequence and its Probability (an Outcome).

if R = sum of F (CP) ... then,
Risk (outcome) can equate to something;
• Positive / Likely; and/or
• Neutral / Moderate; and/or something
• Negative / Catastrophic (Threat minus Mitigation = Risk)
for the enterprise.

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is the Risk Management process that cuts right across the entire enterprise to provide a logical and evolving structure. It is a structure that links all the components within an enterprise in a compelling way to form an integrated whole.

Rating Risk on the bases of a level of risk (Standard: AS/NZS 4360:2004)

While the above colour cording is ideal for identifying and rating Supply Chain Risk and Operational Risk, a different colour cording will be required to identify, analyse, evaluate and rate risk across all other components within an enterprises - such as;
• Strategic Risk;
• Marketing Risk;
• Financial Risk; and
• Compliance Risk ... to name a few.

When applied correctly, ERM has the ability to address critical business issues for the enterprise - such as risk culture, appetite, growth, return on investment / revenue, create value and provide a competitive advantage.

As such, Dynamic Supply Chain Alignment and Enterprise Risk Management co-exist in a symbiotic relationship to align the strategy, the processes, the people, the technology and the know-how to create value and to deliver What Customers Want.

Travel & Event - Risk Management should be highly considered in the planning and marketing

Today, conceptualizing, organizing, marketing and managing group travel for a sporting event (World Cup: Cricket, Rugby, Football) or be it an educational, religious or a corporate event including entertainment will present organisers with increasingly complex risk issues, often in the face of major financial commitment.

Furthermore, if the event is a national or regional event - where matches/games are played in multiple states, this presents added risks and creates an even greater risk management challenge due to relocation of the entire travel group from one location to the next ... and the addition of new organizing committees / stakeholders.

Add to this mix, Financial Risk, Public Liability/OH&S Risk and Commercial Risk - be it rogue operators, booking cancellations by tour group members and/or event cancellation by the event organizers - including the impact of an epidemic (Sars, Ebola Flue or more recently, Swine Flue) … and it is easy to see the potential difficulty and the risk associated when it comes to scoping, organising, marketing and managing group travel of any scale.

Finally we have Security Risk (Terrorism). Although this is not a new risk - be it the 1992 Munich Olympic attack against Israeli athletes, or the more resent attack against the Sri Lankan Cricket Team in Pakistan on March 3rd 2009, terrorism risk is now high on the radar. As such, event / travel managers and service providers should be more sensitive to the possible risk elements. This risk should be highly considered in the planing and marketing. - (c) John C.
